Product Sequencing on Tasks (Mobile) - User Guide

Written by Trevor Shaffer

Overview

Products attached to a task display in the sequence order configured for them, matching the order shown on the web app. The order can also be adjusted directly from several screens in the mobile app. This is available on both Android and iOS.

Accessing Product Sequencing

Product sequencing applies wherever a task's products are shown: the Task Details screen, the Edit Component Task screen (from an asset's Component Tasks), the Edit Program Component Task screen (from an Asset Template), and the Create/Edit Task Template screen.

How to Reorder Products on a Task

Steps:

  1. Open the task, component task, program component task, or task template whose products need reordering

  2. Find the product list — each row shows a drag handle icon

  3. Press and hold the drag handle, then drag the product to its new position

  4. Save the screen if it doesn't save automatically

NOTE: On the Task Details screen, reordering saves and syncs right away. On the Edit Component Task, Edit Program Component Task, and Create/Edit Task Template screens, the new order is saved when the screen itself is saved.

Understanding Product Sequencing

  • Sequence order is shared with the web app — reordering products on mobile changes what's shown everywhere the task's products appear.

  • Order carries through when tasks are created from a template or program — the sequence set on the source template applies to the new task's products.

  • Read-only task summary cards display products in sequence order but aren't where reordering happens — use one of the Edit or Details screens above to change the order.

Use Cases / Examples

Use Case 1: Matching the order parts are used

A planner sequences a task's products so they're listed in the order a technician needs them during the job, and technicians see that same order on mobile.

Use Case 2: Adjusting order in the field

A technician viewing a task on the Task Details screen drags a product to the top of the list to reflect a change in how the work is being performed.

Best Practices

  1. Sequence Products Before Rolling Out a Template: Set the order on a component template or task template so every task created from it starts with the right sequence.

  2. Reorder from the Edit Screen for Component/Program Tasks: Use the Edit Component Task or Edit Program Component Task screen when the change should apply going forward, not just to one instance.

Troubleshooting

Issue: Dragging a product doesn't seem to change its position.

Solution:

  1. Confirm the drag handle icon next to the product is being used to drag, not the row itself.

  2. Save the screen after reordering if the screen requires an explicit save.

Issue: Products still appear out of order after reordering.

Solution:

  1. Confirm the screen was saved after the reorder.

  2. Reopen the task, component task, or template to confirm the order synced.

Summary

Products attached to a task, component task, program component task, or task template display in their configured sequence order on mobile, matching the web app. The order can be adjusted directly by dragging a product's handle on the relevant Edit or Details screen.
