Managing Component Templates

How to Create a New Component Template

A component template starts with a component type. Once created, you can add task templates to it.

  1. From the Component Templates list, tap the + button in the top right

  2. Enter a Name and Description for the new component type

  3. Select an Icon if prompted

  4. Tap Add to save the new component type

  5. The new component template will appear in the list — tap it to add task templates

  3. Fill in the required fields: Task Type, Maintenance Method Type, Board, Estimated Duration, and Frequency

How to Add a Product to a Task Template

  1. Open the task template you want to edit (or create a new one)

  2. In the Products section, tap Add Product

  3. In Add Inventory, select a product

  4. Enter the volume, unit of measure, and points per application

  5. Tap Save to return to the task template form

  6. Tap Save again to save the task template

To remove a product, tap the trash icon next to the product in the list and confirm by tapping Delete.

Best Practices

Set Frequency Before Saving: Frequency is a required field and must be greater than zero — set it early to avoid needing to re-enter other fields if save is blocked.

Use the Search Bar on Large Lists: If your organization has many component templates, use the search bar at the top of the list to find the one you need quickly.

Add Instructions for Complex Tasks: Use the Instructions field to give technicians clear guidance on how to complete the task, especially for tasks that require specific steps or safety considerations.

Attach Inspection Forms Where Relevant: Linking an inspection form to a task template ensures technicians are prompted to fill it out each time the task is completed.

Troubleshooting

Issue: Component Templates Menu Item Not Visible

Solution:

  1. Tap the Assets tab in the bottom navigation bar

  2. Tap the ellipsis (...) button in the top right corner — the menu should appear

  3. If Component Templates is still not listed, contact your administrator to confirm you have the correct permissions

Issue: Save Button Is Inactive When Creating or Editing a Task Template

Solution:

  1. Check that Task Type, Maintenance Method Type, Board, Estimated Duration, and Frequency are all filled in

  2. Ensure Estimated Duration and Frequency are both greater than zero

  3. Once all required fields are complete, the Save button will become active

Issue: Product Added but Not Showing on the Task Template

Solution:

  1. After adding a product, make sure you tapped Save on the product edit screen before returning to the task template

  2. Tap Save on the task template itself to confirm all changes

Summary

Manage the task templates attached to your components without leaving the field. When you need to add a new template or update an existing one, you can do it from your phone — no desktop required.
