Overview
When pinning in the Digital Twin on tablet, you may navigate to an asset that is associated with a different model than the one currently loaded. Instead of switching models automatically, Redlist now prompts you to choose how to proceed — so you never lose your place in the hierarchy and only the model reloads, not the full view.
This feature is available on tablet only.
Switching Models During Pinning
Open the app on your tablet and navigate to a work order.
Open the Digital Twin view.
In the pinning experience, tap an asset in the hierarchy.
If the asset belongs to a different model, the warning appears automatically.
Choose one of the three actions:
Tap Cancel to dismiss and stay where you are.
Tap Switch Model to reload the model for that asset — the hierarchy remains intact.
Tap Pin to keep the current model and place the pin on it for that asset.
Use Cases
Switching models mid-inspection — A technician is reviewing assets on one model and taps an asset on a different model. They tap Switch Model to load that asset's model and continue without losing their hierarchy position.
Keeping your current view — A technician is mid-way through pinning on a model and accidentally selects an asset from another model. They tap Pin to keep the current model loaded and place the pin there instead of switching.
Cancelling without disruption — A technician taps the wrong asset. They tap Cancel and nothing changes — the model, pin state, and hierarchy all remain exactly as they were.
Troubleshooting
Issue: The warning is not appearing when I select an asset from a different model.
Solution:
Confirm you are in the pinning experience — the warning only appears during pinning, not general hierarchy navigation.
Confirm you are on a tablet device. This feature is tablet only and does not apply to phones.
Confirm the asset is actually linked to a different model. If both assets share the same model, no warning appears.
Issue: After tapping Switch Model, the hierarchy appears to reset.
Solution:
The hierarchy should not reset — only the model reloads. If you see unexpected hierarchy changes, navigate back to your previous position using the breadcrumb trail at the top of the sidebar.
Summary
When pinning in the Digital Twin on tablet, selecting an asset from a different model now shows a warning with three options: Cancel (no changes), Switch Model (reloads only the model, hierarchy stays), or Pin (keeps the current model and places the pin there). This gives you full control over model switching during pinning without losing your place. This feature is available on tablet only.
