Written by Trevor Shaffer

Overview

The Component Settings panel gives technicians a dedicated, tabbed view for quick-editing a component's fields and its tasks' fields on mobile, matching the web experience.

Accessing Component Settings

  1. Tap the Assets tab in the bottom navigation bar.

  2. Tap an asset, tap Components, then open a component.

  3. Tap the Settings icon.

How to Quick-Edit Component and Task Fields

Steps:

  1. Tap Settings to open the Quick Edit Fields panel.

  2. Tap the Component Fields tab to edit fields on the component.

  3. Tap the Task Fields tab to edit fields on the component's tasks.

  4. Tap Save to apply your changes.

Understanding Required Fields

Fields marked as required are enabled by default and cannot be turned off from this panel, so a component or task always has the information Redlist needs to track it.

Use Cases

  • A technician correcting a single field in the field opens Settings directly from the component screen and switches between Component and Task tabs as needed.

Best Practices

  1. Confirm which tab you're on: Component Fields and Task Fields are separate tabs — double-check before editing.

  2. Don't try to disable required fields: If a field won't turn off, it's required by design.

Troubleshooting

Issue: A field won't turn off.
Solution:

  1. Check whether it's marked required — required fields stay enabled and can't be disabled from Settings.

Summary

The Settings panel gives a focused, tabbed way to quick-edit component and task fields on mobile without leaving the component screen.
