Overview
An asset's profile photo can be viewed or changed from the toolbar on the Asset Details screen, positioned next to the QR code icon. This is available on both Android and iOS.
Accessing an Asset's Details
Assets can be opened from several places in the app — the asset list, search, or a linked asset on a task or work order. Once an asset is open, the photo button is in the toolbar at the top of the Asset Details screen.
How to View or Change an Asset's Photo
Steps:
Open the asset whose photo you want to view or update.
On the Asset Details screen, tap the photo thumbnail in the toolbar, next to the QR code icon.
If the asset already has a photo, it opens for viewing — replace or remove it from there.
If the asset doesn't have a photo yet, tapping the icon opens the option to take a new photo or choose one from your library.
NOTE: This is the asset's single profile photo, separate from any other files or photos attached to the asset elsewhere, such as in its attachment gallery.
Understanding the Toolbar Layout
The toolbar at the top of the Asset Details screen keeps a consistent order: the photo thumbnail sits next to the QR code/link icon, with the additional-options menu (•••) at the far end. The photo button's position is the same across every asset.
Use Cases / Examples
Use Case 1: Updating an asset's photo after a repair
A technician who just repaired a piece of equipment reopens the asset from their last work order and taps the photo thumbnail in the toolbar to add an updated photo showing the completed repair.
Use Case 2: Adding a first photo to a newly created asset
After creating a new asset with no photo, a user taps the blank toolbar photo icon and takes a photo directly with their device's camera to give the asset a recognizable image.
Best Practices
Keep the Photo Current: Update an asset's photo when its condition changes meaningfully, since it's the image shown wherever the asset is referenced.
Use the Toolbar for Quick Access: The photo button sits in the same place on every Asset Details screen, next to the QR code icon, so it's quick to find regardless of which asset is open.
Troubleshooting
Issue: Tapping the photo icon opens the camera instead of a picker with library and camera options.
Solution:
This happens for assets with no photo yet if the Open Camera by Default setting is turned on for blank images.
Check Settings to turn that option off for a picker that offers both options each time.
Issue: The photo icon isn't visible on the Asset Details screen.
Solution:
It's in the toolbar at the top of the screen, next to the QR code icon.
Scroll up or rotate the device if the toolbar isn't visible.
Summary
An asset's profile photo can be viewed or changed from the toolbar on the Asset Details screen, next to the QR code icon. Tapping it opens the existing photo for viewing or replacing, or the camera/library picker if the asset doesn't have a photo yet.
