Overview
The Status field on an Asset lets you tag it with a value like "Active" or "In Repair." You can now create a brand-new Asset Status directly from the Status field on your mobile device, without needing one set up ahead of time. Availability differs slightly by platform — see below.
iOS: Creating a New Status
On iOS, this shortcut is available both when creating a new asset and when setting the Status field on an existing asset from within a form.
Tap the Status field
Tap New Status
Enter a name and save
The new status is created and automatically selected in the Status field.
Android: Creating a New Status
On Android, this shortcut is currently available only when creating a new asset — it is not available when setting or changing the Status field on an existing asset from within a form.
While creating a new asset, tap the Status field to open the list of existing statuses
Tap New in the top corner of the list
On the New Asset Status screen, enter a Name
Tap Save
The new status is created and automatically selected in the Status field.
Duplicate Names
Both platforms block creating a status with a name that already exists, showing a message that a status with that name already exists in the system. Treat status names as unique — if you're not sure a name already exists, check the existing list before creating a new one.
Notes
Name is the only required field
If left blank, you'll be prompted that a name is required before you can save
Summary
You can create a new Asset Status directly from the Status field instead of requiring one to already exist. On iOS this works both when creating an asset and when setting Status from within a form; on Android it is currently only available while creating a new asset. Enter a name and save — the new status is created and selected immediately.
