Component Templates — Adding to an Asset Template (Mobile) - User Guide

Add Component Templates directly to an Asset Template on mobile, the same way you can on an individual Asset — changes cascade to every Asset linked to that template.

Overview

Asset Templates let you standardize the components and tasks used across a group of similar assets. You can now add Component Templates directly to an Asset Template — the same way you already can on an individual Asset — to quickly build out a standard set of components and tasks. Because any changes made to an Asset Template are also pushed down to every Asset currently linked to that template, this saves you from repeating the process asset-by-asset.

This is available on both Android and iOS.

Accessing Add Component Templates

  1. Open the Asset Template you want to edit

  2. Open the actions menu — on Android, tap the floating + button; on iOS, tap the ellipsis (•••) menu

  3. Select Add Component Template(s) — the option reads "Add Component Template" on Android and "Add Component Templates" on iOS

The same option is also available inside an individual section's menu within the Asset Template — open a section's menu and select the same option to add component templates directly into that section.

How to Add Component Templates

  1. From the actions menu, select Add Component Template(s)

  2. The Add Component Templates list opens, showing every Component Type that has at least one Task Template attached

  3. Next to each Component Type you want, set a count (0, 1, 2, ...) for how many new components to create of that type

  4. Repeat for any additional Component Types

  5. Tap Add (this stays disabled until at least one Component Type has a count greater than 0)

Each new component is automatically named with its type and a number — for example, requesting 2 of "Motor" creates "Motor 1" and "Motor 2" — and every active Task Template tied to that Component Type is copied onto the new component as a task.

NOTE: Tap the star icon next to a Component Type to favorite it, making it easier to find the next time.

What Happens to Linked Assets

Adding Component Templates to an Asset Template also creates those same new components and tasks on every Asset currently linked to that template. You do not need to repeat the process on each asset individually.

Use Cases

Standardizing a fleet of assets: Build out an Asset Template once with the Component Templates your team relies on, so every new asset created from that template — and every asset already linked to it — gets the same baseline components and tasks.

Retrofitting assets already in use: Add a new Component Template to an Asset Template after the fact, and every asset already linked to that template immediately picks up the new components and tasks.

Notes

  • If no Component Types have a Task Template attached, the list has nothing to show — set up Task Templates for the relevant Component Types first. On iOS this state displays "There are no Component Templates configured in the system."

  • This mirrors adding Component Templates to a standalone Asset — same list, same counts, same behavior. The difference with an Asset Template is that the new components and tasks also cascade to every linked Asset.

Summary

Asset Templates now support adding Component Templates the same way individual Assets do. Open the Asset Template's actions menu (or a section's menu) and select Add Component Template(s), then set a count for each Component Type you want to add. New components are created with their tasks already attached, and the changes automatically apply to every Asset currently linked to that template.
