Downloading All Images for a Route (Mobile) - User Guide

Written by Trevor Shaffer

Overview

Asset and component images for a route can be downloaded to your device for offline use. Once downloaded, images are stored locally and available offline — no need to wait for them to load in the field, even without a connection.

How Downloading Works

When you open a work order for the first time, the app checks whether all images for that route have been downloaded. If they haven't, a prompt appears asking if you'd like to download them now. You can also trigger a download manually at any time from within a work order.

NOTE: If a route has more than 250 images, the prompt will let you know the download may take a while depending on your connection.

How to Download Images When Prompted

When you open a work order and images haven't been downloaded yet, a Download Images? prompt appears automatically.

  1. Tap Download to start downloading all images for the route.

  2. A Downloading... overlay appears while the download is in progress.

  3. A Downloaded confirmation appears briefly when the download is complete.

Tap Not Now to skip the download and open the work order without downloading images.

How to Download Images Manually

  1. Open a work order from the queue.

  2. Tap the menu in the top-right corner.

  3. Tap Download Images.

  4. Tap Download.

  5. A Downloading... overlay appears while the download is in progress.

  6. A Downloaded confirmation appears briefly when complete.

Use Cases

Working in a low-signal area: A technician is heading into a facility with spotty coverage. Before going offline, they open the work order and tap Download Images so all asset photos are ready when they need them.

Large route preparation: A supervisor is about to start a major quarterly inspection with hundreds of assets. They download images for the route while on Wi-Fi so the team can work through the inspection without waiting for photos to load.

Best Practices

  1. Download on Wi-Fi When Possible: Large routes with many images download faster on Wi-Fi. If you know you'll be going offline, download before leaving a connected area.

  2. Download Before Arriving On-Site: Trigger the download while you're still connected so images are ready when you need them.

  3. Respond to the Prompt: When the Download Images? prompt appears on first open, downloading right away saves you from manually triggering it later.

Troubleshooting

Issue: The Download Images prompt did not appear when opening a work order.

Solution: The prompt only appears the first time you open a work order while images are not yet downloaded. If you dismissed it with Not Now, use the menu → Download Images to trigger it manually.

Issue: The download is taking a very long time.

Solution: Routes with more than 250 images can take a while to download, especially on a slow connection. Move to a stronger Wi-Fi connection and try again if needed.

Summary

Downloading route images stores them on your device so they're available offline wherever you work. Download automatically when the prompt appears or manually from the ⋯ menu at any time.
