Overview

Recent updates to the work order creation flow in the Redlist mobile app make it faster and easier to get started after creating a new work order. When a work order has no tasks yet, a prominent Add Task button now appears directly on the work order screen β€” replacing the previous empty state message and giving users a clear, immediate next step.

Accessing Work Order Creation

Work orders can be created from multiple locations in the mobile app.

  1. Tap the Routes tab in the bottom navigation bar

  2. Tap Add Work Order

  3. Fill in the Work Order Name and Board (required fields) along with any other details

  4. Tap Add to save the work order

How to Add a Task After Creating a Work Order

When you create a new work order with no tasks, the updated flow makes it immediately clear what to do next.

  1. Tap the Routes tab in the bottom navigation bar

  2. Tap Add Work Order

  3. Fill in the Work Order Name and Board (required fields) and any other details, then tap Add

  4. The app takes you directly to the Tasks tab

  5. If no tasks exist yet, tap the Add Task button displayed in the tasks area

  6. Fill in the task details and tap Save in the top right corner

  7. Once at least one task exists, the Add Task button is replaced by the task list

Note: You can also tap the + button at the top of the Tasks tab at any time to add more tasks β€” this button is always available regardless of whether tasks already exist.

Best Practices

Add Tasks Immediately After Creation: After creating a work order, tap the Tasks tab and use the Add Task button right away to keep your workflow moving and ensure nothing is left incomplete.

Use the + Button for Additional Tasks: After the first task is added, use the + button at the top of the Tasks tab to continue adding more tasks to the same work order.

Review Before Closing: After adding tasks, review the work order to confirm assignments and details are correct before navigating away.

Summary

The updated work order creation flow removes friction by surfacing an Add Task button the moment a new work order is created with no tasks. This small but impactful change helps users stay on track and ensures work orders don't sit empty after creation.
