Written by Angela Mazon

Overview

The Quick Route Builder's Sub Groups filter lets you choose exactly which subgroups to include in a route, rather than pulling them all in automatically.

Accessing the Quick Route Builder

  1. From the left navigation, click Lubrication Routes

  2. Click Route Setup/Templates

  3. Click the Route Setup tab

  4. Open an existing route or create a new one by clicking the Create button

  5. Click the Tasks tab

  6. Click the Quick Route Builder button to open the Quick Route Builder panel

How to Build a Route for Specific Subgroups

Scope a route to selected subgroups within an asset group rather than all subgroups.

  1. Open the Quick Route Builder panel

  2. In the Asset Group dropdown, select the parent asset group

  3. The Sub Groups dropdown populates with all child asset groups under the selected parent

  4. In the Sub Groups dropdown, select one or more subgroups to include in the route

    • To include all current subgroups, either leave the dropdown blank or click the Select All option

  5. Optionally filter by Assets and Asset Sections

  6. Click Save to generate the tasks

Note: If you change the Asset Group selection, the Sub Groups field clears automatically and you must reselect your subgroups.

How to Use Include Future Options

Automatically include new subgroups when they are added to the selected asset group.

  1. Select an Asset Group

  2. Check the Include Future Options checkbox next to Sub Groups

  3. When checked, any new subgroup added under the selected asset group in the future will automatically be included in this route — no manual updates needed

  4. Click Save

Use Cases

Route by proximity — buildings or areas that are physically close together

A facility has a parent group (e.g., Wood Yard) with subgroups for Building 1, Building 2, Building 3, and Building 4. A technician's route should only cover Building 1 and Building 3 because those two are nearest to each other. Select those two subgroups in Quick Route Builder instead of pulling in all four buildings and manually removing assets from the others.

Route across two product lines or process areas

A site has a Building Products group with subgroups for Gypsum, OSB, Siding, and Lumber. A route needs to cover only Gypsum and OSB because those areas share a common inspection path. Select Gypsum and OSB in the Sub Groups filter — assets in Siding and Lumber are automatically excluded.

Troubleshooting

Issue: The Sub Groups dropdown is empty after selecting an Asset Group

Solution: The selected Asset Group has no child subgroups configured — verify the asset hierarchy is set up correctly.

  1. The selected Asset Group has no child subgroups configured

  2. Verify the asset hierarchy is set up correctly — subgroups must be nested under the selected group

  3. Contact your administrator to review the asset group structure

Issue: Validation error when trying to build the route

Solution: If Include Future Options is not checked, at least one subgroup must be selected before saving.

  1. If Include Future Options is not checked, at least one subgroup must be selected in the Sub Groups field

  2. Either select one or more subgroups, or check Include Future Options to proceed

Issue: New subgroups are not appearing in the route

Solution: Include Future Options must be checked for new subgroups to be added automatically.

  1. If Include Future Options is not checked, new subgroups are not automatically added

  2. Check Include Future Options on the route, or manually add the new subgroup to the filter

Summary

The Sub Groups filter lets you pick which subgroups show up in your route instead of including all of them automatically. Select the ones you want from the dropdown, or check Include Future Options to add new subgroups to the route as they're created.
