Overview
Redd, Redlist's voice assistant, can hold a live conversation with you about a work order. Start a voice session and Redd reads back the outstanding tasks for that work order's equipment — you can mark them complete just by talking, without touching the screen. A Live Activity keeps you updated on the lock screen while the session runs in the background.
NOTE: This mirrors an existing Android capability — it isn't a brand-new concept, just voice task completion coming to iOS.
Accessing the Feature
A session can start two ways: scan an NFC tag as usual, or open voice mode directly from a work order — no scan required for the second path.
How to Complete Tasks by Voice
Steps:
Start a voice session by scanning a tag or opening voice mode on a work order.
Redd announces a short summary of what's outstanding — for example, "One grease task."
Respond naturally to complete tasks — saying something like "complete the grease," "complete all," or "done" completes the matching task(s); saying "all" or "everything" completes every outstanding task on the work order.
Keep working — the session continues in the background and on your lock screen via a Live Activity, so you don't need to keep the app open.
NOTE: If you scan a different tag while a session is already running, the session narrows to the newly scanned item instead of starting over.
Understanding Voice Task Completion
This feature must be turned on for your account by an admin. If it's off, you'll hear that hands-free completion is switched off for this account.
Some accounts only allow completing one task at a time by voice rather than several at once — if so, you'll be told only one task at a time can be completed.
The Live Activity is specific to voice sessions — it's a different system from the existing, non-voice "Hands-Free Mode" Live Activity, so don't confuse the two.
The Live Activity only appears if your device and the app support background audio; swiping it away ends the session.
Use Cases
Hands full during a repair. A technician mid-repair with both hands occupied opens voice mode on the work order, hears what's outstanding, and completes each task by voice without touching the phone.
Walking a piece of equipment. A technician scans a tag to start a session, then walks the equipment completing tasks by voice as they reach each one, glancing at the Live Activity on the lock screen to track progress.
Best Practices
Confirm the Feature Is Enabled: If voice completion doesn't respond as expected, check with your account admin that hands-free completion is turned on.
Use It When Hands-Free Matters Most: Voice sessions are most useful during repairs or inspections where stopping to use the screen slows you down.
Troubleshooting
Issue: Redd says hands-free completion is switched off.
Solution: Ask your account admin to enable hands-free/voice task completion for your account.
Issue: Redd says only one task at a time can be completed.
Solution: This is expected for accounts with bulk completion disabled — complete tasks one at a time by voice instead of saying "all."
Issue: A task won't complete by voice.
Solution: Some tasks can't be completed this way — for example, a task that already shows complete, or one that requires a signature and has to be finished on screen instead.
Issue: The session stops responding or seems out of sync.
Solution: You may be told your session changed and to scan again — rescan the tag or restart voice mode on the work order.
