Overview
Rich text fields — such as a task's Notes or Instructions — display images embedded inline alongside the text, matching how they display when added from the web app. On Android, an image can also be inserted directly into a rich text field from the device.
Accessing Rich Text Fields with Inline Images
Rich text fields with inline image support appear in several places, including task Notes/Instructions and work order Notes. Open the task or work order and go to its Notes or Instructions field.
How to View an Inline Image
Steps:
Open a task or work order with an inline image in its Notes or Instructions
Tap the image to open it full-screen
NOTE: On iOS, the full-screen view is preview-only — there's no option to edit, crop, or delete from there.
How to Insert an Image (Android)
Steps:
Tap into the Notes field while editing it
Tap the Insert Image icon in the toolbar
Choose Take Photo or Choose to pick from the photo library
The image embeds inline at the cursor position
NOTE: Inline image insertion is available on Android. On iOS, images inserted elsewhere — for example, from the web app or from Android — display and can be viewed, but can't be inserted from the field itself.
Understanding Inline Images on Mobile
Images referenced in a rich text field download to the device automatically if not already synced, since the stored link is only valid for a short time.
On Android, inserted images are sized to fit within the field, and images are scaled to fit the screen width when displayed.
An inline image is separate from the task's or work order's other attachments — it doesn't appear in a separate attachment or photo list.

Use Case 1: Reviewing reference images in the field
A technician opens a task's instructions to see a reference photo embedded by a planner earlier, then taps it to view it full-screen.
Use Case 2: Adding a photo directly from the field (Android)
A technician on Android takes a photo of a completed repair and inserts it directly into a work order's Notes field without leaving the app.
Best Practices
Use Inline Images for Context That Belongs With the Text: Embed a photo directly where it's referenced in the instructions, rather than as a separate attachment.
View Full-Screen for Detail: Tap an inline image to see it at full size rather than relying on the small inline preview.
Troubleshooting
Issue: An inline image doesn't load, or shows a broken or placeholder icon.
Solution:
Confirm the device has a network connection so the image can download.
Reopen the task or work order to retry the download.
Issue: There's no option to insert an image from a Notes field on iOS.

Inline image insertion is available on Android. On iOS, images inserted elsewhere still display and can be viewed full-screen.
