Overview
The Grease Calculator is available on component tasks and program component tasks in the mobile app. It calculates the recommended grease quantity and lubrication frequency based on bearing dimensions and operating conditions, and can apply those values directly to the task.
Accessing the Grease Calculator
Navigate to a Work Order that contains a lubrication task (component task)
Open a Component Task or Program Component Task in create or edit mode.
Tap the calculator icon next to the Frequency field.
The Grease Calculator screen opens.
Entering Bearing Dimensions
In the Grease Calculator, enter the following bearing measurements:
Bearing Width
Outer Diameter
Shaft Diameter
Shaft RPM
These fields are required for the calculator to produce results. If any required field is empty, the results display "—".
Viewing Calculated Results
Once all required inputs are entered, the results card displays:
Calculated quantity — recommended grease amount in ounces (oz)
Calculated frequency — recommended lubrication interval in days (tap to toggle to hours)
Current values — the task's existing quantity and frequency shown for reference
Applying Recommended Values
Tap Apply to apply the calculated quantity and frequency to the task.
The task's frequency and grease quantity fields update automatically.
A success confirmation appears.
If the calculated frequency does not match an existing frequency
A frequency suggestion screen opens:
The calculated frequency (in days) is pre-filled.
Up to 5 nearby existing frequencies are shown as selectable options, each labeled with the difference (e.g., "+2 days").
To use an existing frequency: tap a frequency option, then tap Save.
To create a new frequency: clear the field, enter a new value, then tap Create. The new frequency is saved and applied to the task.
If the task has multiple parts
When multiple lubrication points are present, the grease quantity cannot be automatically distributed. A warning is shown — you will need to manually enter the quantity for each part.
Saving and Persistence
The Grease Calculator saves its last-used inputs when you apply values to a task. The next time you open the calculator on the same task, the inputs are restored to the previously saved state.
Troubleshooting
Issue: The Grease Calc tab is not appearing in my component task.
Solution: The Grease Calculator is only available for bearing-type component tasks. If the tab is not visible, the component may not be configured as a bearing. Contact your admin to confirm the component type is set up correctly.
Issue: I entered all the bearing details but did not get a result.
Solution: All required fields must be filled in for the calculator to generate a recommendation. Make sure all bearing dimensions and operating condition fields are completed. If a field is missing or shows an error, the calculation will not run.
Issue: The suggested frequency is different from what is currently set on the task.
Solution: The calculator generates a recommendation based on the inputs you entered — it does not automatically update the task. To apply the suggested frequency, use the Frequency Suggestion Modal. If you do not apply it, the existing task frequency stays unchanged.
Summary
The mobile Grease Calculator helps you determine the correct grease quantity and lubrication frequency for a bearing based on its dimensions and operating conditions. Open it from the Frequency field on any component task, enter the bearing details, adjust the operating factors, and tap Apply Recommended Values to update the task. If the calculated frequency does not match an existing one, you can select a nearby frequency or create a new one.
