Overview
The Route Setup & Templates table supports column customization. You can choose which columns are displayed and reorder them to match your workflow. Your preferences are saved automatically and applied each time you return to the page — no need to reconfigure on every visit.
Accessing Column Options
Column settings for the Route Templates table are accessed directly from the Route Setup & Templates page.
From the navigation, click Lubrication Routes, then click Route Setup & Templates.
At the top right of the Route Templates table, click the gear icon (⚙) button.
The Column Settings modal opens.
How to Show or Hide Columns
The Column Settings modal lists all currently visible columns. Each row has a dropdown to select which column appears in that slot, and a red X button to remove it from the list entirely.
In the Column Settings modal, review the list of visible columns.
Click the red X next to a column to remove it from the table.
To add a hidden column back, click the dropdown on any existing row and select a different column
or use the Add Column option to insert a new row and select from the available columns.
Click Save Changes to apply.
NOTE: The Route Template and Actions columns are fixed and cannot be removed.
How to Reorder Columns
In the Column Settings modal, locate the column you want to move.
Drag the column row to a new position in the list
or use the up arrow (↑) or down arrow (↓) buttons to move it one position at a time.
The order of columns in the modal reflects the order they will appear in the table from left to right.
Click Save Changes to apply.
How to Restore Default Column Settings
If you want to return the table to its original column layout:
In the Column Settings modal, click Restore Defaults.
This resets both column visibility and order to the default configuration.
Click Save Changes to apply
or Cancel to discard.
Use Cases
Streamlined table view — A lubrication technician who only needs to see Work Order Template, Next Due Date, and Assignees can remove the remaining columns to reduce visual clutter and focus on what matters for their daily workflow.
Manager review layout — A supervisor checking route status across regions can prioritize Region, Role, Last Completed On, and Next Due Date columns at the front of the table for a quick at-a-glance review.
Switching between contexts — A planner who reviews PM Template coverage separately from scheduling can save a customized column order for each use case, since preferences persist across sessions.
Best Practices
Start with all columns visible: Review the full column set before deciding what to hide — some columns like PM Template or Assigned Board may surface useful context you didn't know was available.
Put your primary sort column first: Reordering columns so your most-used sort column appears near the left reduces eye movement when scanning the table.
Use Restore Defaults when in doubt: If your column configuration causes confusion or you want to start fresh, Restore Defaults brings everything back cleanly.
Use the dropdown to swap columns in place: Instead of removing a column and adding a new one separately, click the dropdown on an existing row to swap it for a different column in one step.
Troubleshooting
Issue: The gear icon is not visible in the Route Templates table.
Solution:
Confirm you are on the Route Setup & Templates page, not the Routes page. Both are under Lubrication Routes, but only Route Setup & Templates has the column settings option.
If the button is still not visible, try refreshing the page.
Issue: The Add Column button is not visible in the Column Settings modal.
Solution:
The Add Column button only appears when at least one column has been removed.
If all available columns are already visible, there are no columns to add and the button is not shown.
Click the red X on a column to remove it first — the Add Column button will then appear for adding it back.
Issue: I want to remove the Work Order Template or Actions column but there is no X button next to them.
Solution:
These two columns are fixed and cannot be removed — they are required for the table to function.
All other columns can be removed if needed.
Summary
The Route Templates table lets you customize which columns are shown and their order. Open the Column Settings modal using the gear icon at the top right of the table, then remove columns using the red X, reorder them using the up and down arrows, and click Save Changes. Your preferences are saved per user and persist across sessions. Use Restore Defaults at any time to return to the original layout.
