Work Orders — Planned Start Date & Due Date (Mobile) - User Guide

Written by Trevor Shaffer

Overview

Work orders on mobile now show the planned start date, due date, and estimated duration directly on the General tab. These fields can be viewed by anyone and edited by tapping the pencil icon — so planners and supervisors can update scheduling information from anywhere without needing to go back to the web.

Accessing a Work Order

  1. Tap the Routes tab in the bottom navigation bar.

  2. Tap a route to open it.

  3. Tap a work order to open it.

  4. Tap the General tab (ⓘ icon) if it is not already active.

The planned start date, due date, and estimated duration are displayed in the General section.

How to Edit the Start Date, Due Date, or Estimated Duration

  1. Open a work order and tap the General tab (ⓘ icon).

  2. Tap the pencil icon in the top-right corner.

  3. Tap Start Date to select a new planned start date.

  4. Tap Due Date to select a new due date.

  5. Tap Estimated Duration to enter a duration in hours.

  6. Tap Save to apply the changes.

NOTE: The Start Date cannot be set to a date after the Due Date. If a work order has tasks and you change the Due Date, a confirmation will appear asking whether to update the task due dates as well.

NOTE: The pencil icon is not available on work orders generated from dynamic routes.

Use Cases

Updating a schedule in the field: A supervisor is on-site and realizes a work order needs to start a day later than planned. They open the work order, tap the pencil, update the Start Date, and save — without needing to find a computer.

Setting duration after scoping the work: A technician opens a work order and, after seeing the asset in person, realizes the work will take longer than originally estimated. They update the Estimated Duration on the spot so the plan reflects reality.

Adjusting a deadline: A work order's due date needs to move because of a production schedule change. A planner updates the Due Date from mobile and chooses to update the task due dates at the same time.

Troubleshooting

Issue: The pencil icon is not visible on the General tab.

Solution: The work order was generated from a dynamic route — dates on dynamic route work orders are calculated automatically and cannot be edited.

Issue: The Start Date cannot be saved.

Solution: The Start Date must be on or before the Due Date. Adjust one of the dates so the start falls within the scheduling window, then save.

Summary

Work orders on mobile now show and allow editing of the planned start date, due date, and estimated duration directly from the General tab. Tap the pencil icon to edit, save when done, and changes sync across the team automatically.
