Task Details Ordering (Mobile) - User Guide

Written by Trevor Shaffer

Overview

Each user can control what they see first when they open a task. Some details show up right away at the top — others stay out of sight until tapped. Every user sets their own layout, and it applies to their view only.

Accessing Task Detail Settings

The Task Detail Settings screen is accessed from within any task details screen.

  1. Tap the Routes tab in the bottom navigation bar.

  2. Tap a route to open it.

  3. Tap any task to open its details screen.

  4. Tap the ··· menu in the top-right corner.

  5. Tap Settings.

The Task Detail Settings screen opens.

How to Reorder Task Detail Fields

The settings screen has two sections: Top Section and Additional Details. Fields in the Top Section are always visible when the task details screen opens. Fields in Additional Details are hidden until you tap to expand them.

  1. Open the Task Detail Settings screen (see Accessing above).

  2. Press and hold any field row to start dragging it.

  3. Drag the field to its new position within the same section, or drag it into the other section.

  4. A highlighted drop slot appears to show where the field will land.

  5. Release to place the field.

  6. Repeat for any other fields you want to reorder or move.

  7. Tap Save when the layout looks right. Tap Cancel to discard changes.

Use Cases

Focusing on what matters most to you: A lubrication technician relies heavily on product quantities and task status. They move Products and Status to the very top of the Top Section and move Timers and Generated From to Additional Details — so the most relevant information is front and center the moment they open a task.

Simplifying a busy screen: A technician works in a noisy, fast-paced environment and rarely needs generated-from details or timers during execution. They move those fields into Additional Details to reduce clutter and get to what matters faster.

Surfacing inspection forms: A technician on a quality-focused program needs to see Inspections first every time. They move Inspections to the top of the Top Section so it's always the first thing they see — reducing missed submissions.

Best Practices

  1. Put What You Reach For First at the Top: Think about the first thing you do when you open a task — status update, product check, instructions — and make sure those fields are in the Top Section.

  2. Move Rarely Used Fields to Additional Details: Fields like Generated From and Timers aren't needed on every task. Keeping them in Additional Details reduces visual noise without removing them entirely.

  3. Check Your Layout After Saving: Open a task details screen after saving to confirm everything looks right before you start working through tasks.

  4. Know You Can Always Reset: If the layout isn't working, drag fields back to their original positions manually at any time.

Troubleshooting

Issue: The Settings option is not visible in the ··· menu on a task details screen.

Solution: The Settings option appears in the ··· menu on any task details screen. Make sure you are on the task details screen and the menu is fully open. Contact your Redlist administrator if the option is still missing.

Issue: Changes saved in Task Detail Settings are not appearing.

Solution:

  1. Confirm the save completed without an error message — if an error appeared, the settings were not saved.

  2. Close the task and reopen it to see the updated layout.

Issue: A field has disappeared from the task details screen entirely.

Solution: Open Task Detail Settings — the field has been moved to Additional Details and is hidden behind the expand toggle. Drag it back to the Top Section and save.

Issue: The task details layout needs to be restored to the original order.

Solution: Drag fields back to their default positions manually. The default layout is:

  • Top Section: Status, Products, Duration, Instructions, Inspections, Communications Hub

  • Additional Details: Details, Timers, Generated From, Attachments

Summary

Task Detail Settings let each user control what they see first when they open a task. Organize your fields into the Top Section and Additional Details to match the way you work — your layout applies to your own view and can be updated at any time.
