Overview

The Redlist mobile app lets you generate a work order directly from a conversation with Redd, Redlist's AI assistant. After chatting with Redd about an asset issue — describing what's wrong, attaching photos, and getting a diagnosis — you can turn that entire conversation into a work order with a single tap. Redd automatically generates a title and notes from the chat history, links the asset, and includes any photos shared during the conversation.

Accessing the AI Chat

The AI chat with Redd is accessed from an individual asset screen.

  1. Tap the Assets tab in the bottom navigation bar

  2. Find and tap the asset you want to discuss

  3. On the asset detail screen, tap the red sparkles button in the top right corner — this opens the Ask Redd chat screen

How to Chat With Redd About an Issue

Before generating a work order, use the chat to describe the problem and gather information.

  1. Open the Ask Redd chat from an asset (see above)

  2. Type a message describing the issue, or tap one of the preset prompt options to get started

  3. Attach photos by using the photo option in the chat — tap to take a new photo or choose from your library

  4. Continue the conversation with Redd as needed — ask follow-up questions, describe symptoms, or share additional context

  5. Review Redd's response and recommendations

How to Generate a Work Order From the Chat

Once your conversation with Redd contains enough context, you can convert it into a work order in one step.

  1. From the Ask Redd chat screen, tap the + button

  2. Tap Create Work Order From Chat

  3. Redd will automatically generate a work order title based on the chat content, notes summarizing the conversation, a link to the asset you were chatting from, and any photos shared during the chat

  4. Review the generated details on the work order creation screen

  5. Select the board you want to add the work order to

  6. Tap Add to create the work order

After creation, the app takes you directly into the new work order. Tap the Tasks tab (checkmark circle icon) to start adding tasks. A link back to the original Ask Redd chat is also available from the work order.

Note: If you added the same photo multiple times during the chat, it will appear multiple times on the work order. Review the attached photos before saving if you want to remove duplicates.

How to Navigate Back to the Chat From a Work Order

If you create a work order from a chat and later want to reference the original conversation:

  1. Tap the Routes tab and open the work order

  2. Tap the chat link displayed on the work order detail screen

  3. The app returns you to the Ask Redd chat that was used to generate the work order

Understanding AI-Generated Work Orders

  • Title and notes are AI-generated based on your chat history — you can edit them before or after saving

  • The asset is automatically linked — no need to manually select it

  • Photos from the chat are included — any image shared with Redd during the conversation is attached to the work order

  • Tasks are not generated automatically — after the work order is created, you will need to add tasks manually

  • The work order can be edited at any time after creation like any other work order

Best Practices

Describe the Issue Clearly in Chat: The more detail you provide to Redd, the more accurate and useful the generated work order title and notes will be.

Attach Photos During the Chat: If the issue is visual, share photos with Redd during the conversation — they'll automatically be included in the work order, saving you a step.

Review Before Tapping Add: Check the generated title and notes on the work order creation screen before saving to ensure they accurately capture the issue.

Add Tasks Immediately: After the work order is created, add the relevant tasks right away so the work order is actionable for your team.

Troubleshooting

Issue: The Create Work Order From Chat option is not visible in the menu

Solution: You need at least one message exchange with Redd in the current chat session before the option appears.

  1. Ensure you have at least one message exchange with Redd in the current chat session

  2. Tap the + button from the Ask Redd chat screen

  3. Sync the app and reopen the chat if the option still does not appear

Issue: Photos from the chat are missing from the generated work order

Solution: Photos must be shared directly in the chat to be included — descriptions in text are not captured.

  1. Confirm photos were shared directly in the chat (not just described in text)

  2. Generate the work order again if the chat session is still active

  3. Manually attach photos to the work order after creation if needed

Issue: Work order was created but I can't find it

Solution: Check the board you selected during creation and sync the app to ensure the work order appears.

  1. Tap Done after creation and tap the Routes tab to find the board you selected

  2. Sync the app to ensure the new work order appears

  3. Use the chat link on the asset's Redd AI chat screen to navigate directly to the work order

Summary

Generating a work order from an AI chat with Redd streamlines the process of turning a field conversation into an actionable work item. By chatting with Redd about an asset issue, attaching photos, and tapping Create Work Order From Chat, you get a pre-filled work order in seconds — linked to the asset, filled with context from the conversation, and ready for tasks to be added.
