Introduction
Forms are made up of two main pieces, sections and questions. Questions are the part of a form where information, observations, and data are gathered from users. Sections are used to group similar or related questions together. This article will review how to add and manage Sections and Questions on a Form
How to Add a Section to a Form
- Click on the "Forms" button in the navigation bar on the left side of the screen
- Select "Manage" in the pop out menu that appears
- Click in the dropdown menu under "Select an existing template to edit or create a new one"
- Search for and select the form you would like to add a section to
- If you are adding a section to a form that you just created, skip steps 1-4
- Underneath the "Form Title" box at the top of the Form Builder, the is a red and white "Section Title" icon. This indicates a a section, or group of questions.
- Go to the right hand side of the Section Title, and click on the red and white "Add" button with a plus icon
- This will add a new section underneath the current section
- Scroll down to view the new section
How to Add a Question to a Section
- Find the section that you want to add a question to
- Identify the question that you want your new question to follow
- Example - If you want it to be the last question in a section, go to the question that is currently last in that section. If you want your new question to be the fourth question, find the question that is currently third in the section
- On the question that is directly above where you want your new question to be, click on the red and white "Add" button with a plus icon on the right hand side of the question.
- This will add a new question directly below the current question
Note - After adding a new question, the first thing you will want to do is select the type of question you want your new question to be. To do so, click on the long red and white "Information" button on the right side of the question right above the "Required," "Associate," and "Visible" question rules
Section Settings
On the right hand side of the Section Title, there are 6 section settings. Below is an explanation of each
- "Add" - This adds a new section below the current section
- "Up" - This moves the current section, and all of the question contained in it up above the section directly above it. This section, and its questions, will now show before the other section and questions when users complete the form
- "Down" - This moves the current section, and all of the question contained in it down below the section directly below it. This section, and its questions, will now show after the other section and questions when users complete the form
- "Copy" - This copies the section and all question in it, including and setting that have been set and puts it directly below the current section
- "Settings" - This gives you the option to choose if you want to allow users to collapse all the questions in a section. This makes the forms easier to navigate when there are many questions in a section, and many sections in a form
- "Del" - This deletes the section and all questions in it
- Be extremely careful with this setting as there is no way to bring the section or questions back
Question Settings
On the right hand side of a question, there are 6 question settings. Below is an explanation of each
- "Edit" - This button opens the question and allows for changes to be made to the question
- After clicking on the "Edit" button, two other options will appear
- "Close" - This closes the editing mode for the question
- "Preview" - If you want to see what your users will see when answering this question, you can click on the preview button
- After clicking on the "Edit" button, two other options will appear
- "Add" - This adds a new question below the current question
- "Up" - This moves the current question up above the question directly above it. This question will now show before the other question when users complete the form
- "Down" - This moves the current question down below the question directly below it. This question will now show after the other question when users complete the form
- "Copy" - This copies the question, including all rules that have been set and puts it directly below the current section
- "Del" - This deletes the question
- Be extremely careful with this setting as there is no way to bring the question back
