Allow the Default "Maintenance" Board to Be Renamed (Mobile) - User Guide

Rename your default work board on web and it carries over automatically wherever the Board field appears on mobile.

Written by Trevor Shaffer

Overview

Renaming your default work board — covered in the web guide — carries over to mobile too. Once an administrator renames the board on the web app, the new name shows up wherever you pick a Board in the mobile app. On iPhone and iPad, new tasks and task templates still start on your default board under its new name.

Where You'll See the Renamed Board

The board's name appears wherever you're asked to pick a Board, including:

  • The New Task / Edit Task screen for a component task

  • On tablets with PM Charting: the Create Task Template / Edit Task Template screen

  • On tablets with PM Charting: the New Task / Edit Task screen for a program component task

NOTE: The Maintenance tab and screen titles keep their names — only the board itself is renamed.

How to Confirm the Board Name Updated

Steps:

  1. After an administrator renames the default board on the web app, sync the mobile app.

  2. Open a component's task list and tap Add Task, or open an existing task to edit it.

  3. Check the Board field — it should show the new name instead of "Maintenance."

Understanding What Happens Automatically

Nothing needs to be set up on mobile — the rename is a web-side action, and both iOS and Android pick up the new name through your normal sync. You don't need to reselect the board on any existing task or template; everything already assigned to the default board stays assigned to it under its new name.

On iPhone and iPad, a new task or task template starts on your default board. On Android, choose a board when you add a new component task.

Best Practices

  1. Sync before checking: if you don't see the new name right away, sync the app — the update arrives with your normal data sync, not instantly.

  2. Don't recreate task templates after a rename: existing templates keep pointing at the same board; you only need to confirm the name looks right, not rebuild anything.

Troubleshooting

Issue: The Board field still shows "Maintenance" after an admin renamed it.

Solution:

  1. Sync the app again — the renamed board name syncs down like any other data change and may take a moment to arrive.

  2. Confirm with your administrator that the rename was actually saved on the web app.

Issue: The Board field is empty when creating a new task.

Solution:

  1. On Android, the Board field starts empty for a new component task — tap it and choose a board.

  2. On iPhone and iPad, sync the app and try again — the field starts on your default board once boards have synced. If it stays empty, contact support.

Summary

Renaming the default board on the web app carries over to iOS and Android with no mobile-side setup. The new name appears wherever you pick a board, and existing tasks and templates stay assigned to the same board under its new name.
