Overview
Image and Video questions in Redlist forms can include reference images that display to technicians as they fill out a form. The Image Size setting controls how large that reference image appears on screen β Small, Medium, or Large. Administrators configure this in the Form Builder when setting up or editing a form.
Accessing Form Templates
From the navigation, click Forms, then click Form Templates.
How to Set the Image Size on a Form Question
Image Size is configured per question on any Image or Video question type in the Form Builder.
From the navigation, click Forms, then click Form Templates.
Open an existing form or create a new one.
Add or locate an Image or Video question in the form.
In the question settings panel on the right, find the Image Size dropdown.
Select Small, Medium, or Large.
Save or publish the form to apply the change.
NOTE: Image Size defaults to Medium if no selection is made. The selected size applies only to the reference image displayed on that question β it does not affect images captured by technicians via File/Photo questions.
Understanding Image Sizes
The image size you choose determines how prominently the reference image appears when a technician opens the form on their device. Larger sizes make the image easier to read at a glance; smaller sizes leave more screen space for the question and response fields.
Use Cases
Visual inspection reference: A safety inspection form includes a reference image of the correct valve position technicians need to verify. The administrator sets the image to Large so technicians can clearly compare what they see in the field against the reference without needing to zoom in.
Simple visual cues: A form uses a reference photo to help technicians identify the correct component. Since the image is just for quick identification, the administrator sets it to Small to keep the form compact and easy to scroll.
Standard inspection checklist: A general inspection form includes several reference images across multiple questions. The administrator uses Medium (the default) to balance readability with screen space across all questions.
Best Practices
Match Size to Detail Level: Use Large for technical diagrams or images with fine details that technicians need to read carefully. Use Small or Medium for simple reference photos where the subject is easy to identify at a glance.
Preview Before Publishing: Use the form Preview button after setting image sizes to confirm how the form looks before publishing it to the field.
Be Consistent Within a Form: Using the same image size for similar question types within a form gives technicians a consistent experience as they scroll through.
Troubleshooting
Issue: The Image Size dropdown is not visible on a question.
Solution:
Confirm the question type is Image or Video β the Image Size setting only appears on those question types, not on File/Photo questions.
If the question type is correct and the setting is still missing, try refreshing the Form Builder.
Issue: The image size changed but technicians are still seeing the old size.
Solution:
Confirm the form was saved and published after the image size was updated.
Ask technicians to update their version of the app and check again.
If the issue persists, contact your administrator.
Summary
The Image Size setting on Image and Video form questions controls how large reference images appear when technicians complete a form. Set it to Small, Medium, or Large in the Form Builder based on how much detail the image needs to convey. The default is Medium, and changes take effect when the form is saved and published.
